How coffee drink calories are calculated
Most of the calories in a cafe drink come from milk and syrups, not the espresso or coffee base itself. A shot of espresso is only about 5 calories, but 6 fl oz of whole milk adds around 108 calories, and each pump of vanilla syrup contributes roughly 20 calories. Switching from whole to nonfat milk or cutting two syrup pumps can save 60–80 calories without changing the drink structure much.
These are rough estimates based on standard nutritional values for common ingredients. Actual calories vary by brand, preparation, and pour size. Use this tool as a general guide, not as a substitute for a registered dietitian's advice.
